SUCCESS STORY NOMINATION:
Carol Davis Luce - Author
Many people talk about writing a novel. Carol Davis Luce did more than talk. An artist most of her life, Luce put down the paints and picked up a typewriter. "I just sat down and started writing," she said.
With no prior training, Luce wrote and wrote and wrote. Her first draft was 800 pages. She eventually pared it down to 348. In 1990, six years after she began, her first novel "Night Stalker" was on the shelves.
"I cried when I first saw it in the grocery store," Luce said. "The realization that my books were all over the country really choked me up."
Since then Luce has had two more mystery novels published: "Skin Deep" and "Night Prey." A fourth book, "Night Passages," is scheduled for release next June.
Luce lists her husband of 35 years, Bob. as her greatest supporter. As for her new career... "I don't consider myself a writer, per se. I consider myself a storyteller. It makes me feel good to entertain."
